Real Madrid announced that last February the club had placed demands in France, Belgium and Germany against seven house of bets that operate on the Internet since they claim the image of the club has been illegally used. The lawyer Jean-Louis Dupont has already been hired by the ex president Fiorentino Pérez.
Several players of the club have joined Real Madrid’s accusation, such us Zinedine Zidane, Raúl González, David Beckham and Ronaldo, whose incomes regarding their image is split 50-50 between the players and the entity.
Among the companies being sued is Betandwin, that has Baw International Limited managing their operative business from Gibraltar. Betandwin has made an offer to be on Barcelona FC’s shirt for over 10 million euros.
The rest of the companies are the British Ladybrokes, Betfair, Miapuesta, Willhill, Gibraltar’s Victor Chandler and MrBookmaker from Malta.
According to the Real Madrid, “it has been proved that these betting associations use the name of the club and its players without the proper authorization and they even use photos of the players with the shirts and the entity’s shield”.
